Vertigo & Dizziness
Patients diagnosed with BPPV, or benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, are treated by our therapists with great success.
Thorough Treatment for Vertigo and Dizziness
Signs and symptoms can vary from person to person, but most patients experience periods of dizziness, a sense that their surroundings are spinning (vertigo), blurred vision, and nausea or vomiting. Symptoms can last few minutes or 24/7.
Taylor Creek therapists are trained to assess and treat these conditions. Manual techniques are used to alleviate the symptoms, and instruction is given to help you manage the symptoms and understand the causes. We often find the root cause of your imbalance that isn’t related to “crystals in your inner ear”. Do you trust your ankles, have you had recent wisdom or molar removal, a recent change in your teeth or crowns, recent change in your vision, recent fall or trauma? All these experiences and more can bring on dizziness and vertigo.
Common Symptoms:
- Dizziness from a change in position (bending over then standing upright)
- Vertigo or your surroundings are spinning
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Nystagmus (abnormal rhythmic eye movements)
- Unsteadiness
- Loss of balance
- Blurred vision with the sensation of vertigo
One morning I woke up with severe burning in my eye. I then lost vision in my right eye for 3 weeks. I was scared. I didn’t know what was going on. I could not feel the ground under my feet. My foot felt like it was floating. After a 5-hour MRI and multiple scans and tests, the doctors stated could possibly have early onset multiple sclerosis.
Everything changed coming to Taylor Creek PT. After my first appointment, Kristi gave me a temporary appliance for my teeth because I’m a clencher. I was able to take it home with me and needed to use it with my home exercises. In the past, I had tried everything recommended to me and there were no results. This was the first time I had a glimpse of hope after my first appointment at Taylor Creek. I could walk. I could feel the floor. I had my balance back. The pressure in my head and eye went away – as long I was using my temporary appliance and followed the home exercise plan.
I honestly feared I was going to lose my passions in life. I am now able to function like a normal 26-year-old. I hate to think what life could have been if I had not found Taylor Creek. I’m able to live my life to the fullest and enjoy everyday pain free. "
